The Society offers a very small number of grants to grassroots organisations and individuals for volunteer-run projects which encourage people to go vegan and stay vegan, whether in the UK or overseas, particularly in the Global South.
The funding is intended to raise awareness of veganism in a positive way; promote veganism in a unique or exciting way to non-vegans; support people from marginalised backgrounds to access veganism.
This year, four grants (one grant per project) of up to £5,000 will be awarded to new and innovative projects that fit within the following categories:
- A project that puts on a local festival or event for a non-vegan audience.
- A project to support small scale animal agriculture farming to transition to crop farming or land management, or other forms of sustainable land management that do not use animals.
- A project that directly communicates vegan health nutrition guidance to healthcare bodies or professionals, such as dietitians or doctors.
- A project that works with policy stakeholders to change local environmental policy.
Small to medium non-profit organisations or individuals with non-profit projects may apply as long as they are vegan.
Priority will be given to applications from groups who are considered to be marginalised, such as applications from people of colour and members of the LGBTQ+ community. There is particular interest in applications from groups of people underrepresented in the mainstream vegan movement.
The deadline for applications is 1 September 2025.
