Jacqui's worked in mental health for over 40 years, starting her mental health nurse training in 1984. She has seen many changes in that time and while understanding around mental health has no doubt increased so too has the demand for support.
She retrained has a counsellor in the 90s later working for Sunderland Counselling Service and helping to develop and lead their Young people's project. She has been CEO at Washington Mind for almost 19 years and still feels inspired by the passion, innovation and flexibility in the voluntary sector. She was born and lived most of her life in Sunderland and wants to support the work of the Alliance because in these tough times a strong, confident, voluntary sector in Sunderland is essential to help to make a real difference to local people's lives.
