About the organisation
North East Dementia Care, a local Charity Incorporated Organisation (CIO) with a turnover of £319,000, was founded in 2019 by Sandra Falkner after her husband Billy was diagnosed with early-onset dementia in his 50s. The organisation approached us in a state of severe financial distress and was at risk of closing within a matter of months without urgent support. The winter season had worsened their financial challenges, as surging heating and electricity costs placed a significant strain on their already limited resources
Challenges
- Financial Burdens: Accumulated £30,000 in rent arrears and a £14,500 loan, compounded by managing three bank accounts.
- Loss of Beneficiaries: The passing of several beneficiaries increased financial strain as they struggled to fill care places.
- Operational Issues: Staff absences, poor IT infrastructure, and limited marketing capabilities further hindered their operations.
